    Retro Gaming

I have a house full of video game systems and other jailbreaked thing-a-ma-jigs. I like and appreciate the modern and realistic play of the new XBOX or Playstation games but I tend to spend more time playing older 8 or 16 bit titles. I use my NES Classic and SNES Classic fairly often. What I am really wanting is if this high-end video game system clone company, Analogue, puts out a Sega Genesis that is of the same build quality as their NES and SNES models. In addition to the Sega Genesis system I would get an Everdrive flashcart so I can load it with games including Master System and Game Gear ones.

I own almost every Nintendo system sans the Switch and the Virtual Boy as well as a PS4 I recently picked up as well as one of those AL Games brand (or whatever) Sega Genesis. My favourite games are still SNES and NES games. 8 bit and 16 bit are my jam for sure.

Got this little beauty in the mail today. Just unboxed it, turned it on and looked around, then clicked on a few games and played. It has 548 classic games (40 games on console , 508 games on SD card). Most seem to be Gameboy Advance Games. the games I played all played pretty well with no signs of problems. If you're interested I got it on Amazon and it arrived in one day. There are many other versions but I will put the link to the one I got.

How shitty do the D-pads and buttons feel? I mean compared to SNES or GBA controls.

The RS-97 D-Pad is supposed to be on the mushy side but I heard the buttons are OK. I might see if I can replace the D-Pad.

Adam, do you have any emulator-type devices?

Check this guys modded OG XBOX. Look how many games. 3TB Hard Drive.

    Yeah, let me know.

I try and not do emulators if I don't have to. I am currently not running any, but I have in the past. I remember Nesticle quite well. "Thanks, Shitman!"

I own a lot of older consoles so I fire those up for the most part. My NES is finally needing a new 72-pin transplant though. I just got a PS4 about a month ago or so so thats been keeping me busy as I thrust myself into the new age of gaming

    Re: Retro Gaming

Got my Retro Game RS-97 today. Unboxed it and looked inside. Grabbed the system and turned it on. It wouldn't turn on. Battery was obviously dead. I've heard this could brick the system. I plugged it in and will leave it to charge for awhile.

As far as the D-Pad and Buttons, they are very mushy but I will try to get used to them. The trigger buttons are the worst.

All in all, this is a system from China that I only paid 50 bucks for. It's a project I want to learn something from. If it ends up not working or I mess up flashing the firmware I'm not out much money at all.

    Re: Retro Gaming

Update time. Got it fully charged now and was able to turn it on. Looked at the large game list and played R-Type III (GBC), Tetris Worlds (GBA), and Sonic Genesis Version (GBA). The controls aren't the worst part. It was the slowdown. These 3 games I tried move pretty fast but not on this system.

I do not recommend this system if you are getting it to play the games it was loaded with unless you don't mind slowdown. I am eager to try to grab that firmware and see what it does.

On a more positive note I really like the Retro Game Mini. The D-Pad and Buttons are good and the shoulder buttons are adequate. If you bought this for a little kid they would love it as long as they don't mind playing "Old People Games".

At the vary least they are more likely to get good at video games with "old people games". They almost never held your hand and were more often than not tough. Actually beating a lot of old games wasn't something everybody was expected to do, unlike now.

I'd like to think that builds some character. At leas that's what I tell myself about my video game playing back in the day.

I unfortunately do not have my older consoles anymore, but I do still have all my PSX games, with black labeled RE1, RE2 and MGS.

No. I have a collective instinct where I just have to have everything. The more I have the more I need. I have lots of extra time but still not enough to play the majority of a 30,000+ game XBOX OG Classic/Emulator Machine.
