Favorite right now - Metal Gear Solid 3
Favorite of all time (as of this post) - Chrono Trigger

2004-12-26, 19:19
Never played one :)

2004-12-26, 19:21
The topic is best video gamer, not game, right? Well, "ever" was spelled "evar," so maybe it's game and not gamer....LOL :nanner: :hatsoff:

If it's GAME we're talking about, I'd have to say either Goldeneye, Half-Life, or Tomb Raider...

2004-12-26, 19:24
The original Legend of Zelda for NES.

Union Jax
2004-12-26, 19:51
Street fighter 2 on the mega drive was great!

2004-12-26, 20:18
metal gear 3 would get a 10 from me mortal kombat deceptions would get a 9.99994

2004-12-26, 22:19
Hard to say

The damn things are so bloody amazing these days, games from ten years ago have no chance against the new titles.

Having said that, I'll nominate...

NHL 94, 95, 96 - Sega Genesis
The very version seen in the classic scene from Swingers . I too used the Blackhawks and Roenick was a fucking badass.

Rambo - Sega Master System
Crap by today's standards, but at the time, I spent every free moment trying to finish it. And when I did, boy was it a treat. I must have gone through 3 or 4 controllers playing it.

Winning Eleven 7 (and the upcoming 8, 9 , 10 etc.)
Finally a football game for those who appreciate gameplay and realism over graphics and official liscences(EA). I play it every day.

2004-12-26, 23:42
MGS3 fuckin' owns
I'd give San Andreas a 10 of 10 if it didn't glitch like a motherfucker.
Final Fantasy X, VIII, and VII were awesome as well, and I've got high hopes for XII.
Super Mario Kart 64, though, has to be the single chillest game I've got.

2004-12-26, 23:53
yea i wanna change my vote to chrono trigger

Reaper of Souls
2004-12-27, 02:31
Damn, that's a hard one.

But I can tell you my fave ones are Chrono Cross, Valkyrie Profile, and any of the Final Fantasy games (especially Final Fantasy Tactics). But if you want old-school games, I gotta go with all the Mario games and Zelda games on the NES and Super NES and, of course, DOUBLE DRAGON!!!

2004-12-27, 02:35
Half Life 2 - seriously, check it out

2004-12-27, 02:57
Well, if we're talking about PC games too, then SIMs, SIMs 2 (incredible!), GTA3 and GTA Vice City (FUN!)... Quake and Delta Force were cool too... I also enjoyed Syberia a lot, but that's more of a puzzle/adventure game...very pretty AND challenging!!! :nanner: :nanner: :nanner:

2004-12-27, 03:04
id like to change my vote to Double Dragon

Mr Miyagi
2004-12-27, 05:29
Come on guys...does nobody remember Duke Nukem !!!

2004-12-27, 08:32

Come on guys...does nobody remember Duke Nukem !!!

2004-12-27, 09:25
One of the first games i ever played on 'Sonic the hedgehog' on the mastersystem i had which had no sound as it was bought in a cheap Saudi Arabian market, lol!
2nd - Neverwinter nights on PS2 and PC.

2004-12-27, 10:20
I have to say the whole Final Fantasy series, play all the games and they're all pretty awesome... love the NHL series from EASports also...

2004-12-27, 12:08
hard to say but i think Street Fighter II on Snes with the new characters is awsome! :)

2004-12-27, 12:17
sorry about the title guys, my vote would have to go for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty or Sonic the Hedgehog for the sega genesis

2004-12-27, 12:22
Oh man, it's so hard to choose... I can't pick just one.

2004-12-27, 13:40
WAY back "in the day," I liked Joust and Defender, PacMan, Tempest, Mappy, Congo Bongo, Xevious, and DragonSlayer. LOL Yeah, I'm 33, so that tells you something. Frogger kicked ass too. I spent a SHITLOAD of yardwork money I had earned at the video arcade, as a kid. LOL :nanner: Better to do that than get into trouble, I suppose. :)

sonny forelli
2004-12-27, 14:21
GTA-san andreas

2004-12-27, 14:22
my pick would have to be JET SET WILLY on the good old spectrum. trust me guys, when i was 14 i was either wanking or playing that game.

2004-12-27, 17:30
Super Mario World on the SNES - absolutely no question!!

Pwnd, tbh!!

2004-12-27, 20:27
I guess I got a couple games that I consider my favs:
Real-Time Strategy - Starcraft & Brood Wars (I played it online for I dunno how long)
First-Person Shooting: Medal Of Honor Series, Doom 3, Half-Life Series
3rd Person Shooter: GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and I'm anxiously waiting for San Andreas to come out for the pc!! :(

2004-12-28, 01:28
I play alot of Socom II. Right now I'm in the middle Metal Gear 3, and still keep going back for more and more GTA San Andreas.

Winning Eleven 7 is the single best sports game ever made......WE8 is going to be online and I can't wait.

Game of the year 04' - GTA San Andreas.

2005-07-18, 10:47
Metal Gear Solid (I thought Sons of liberty sucked, haven't played 3 yet though)
Call of Duty
GTA: San Andreas
Street Fighter II (Revolutionized fighting games)

2005-07-18, 11:01
Okay, so here are my faves - quite old, I know, but so am I :) and besides I think there are no good (or only few) original concepts these days...

1.Sensible Soccer (all-time-bury-me-with-it-favorite)
2.Street Fighter II
3.Microprose Formula One GP
4.Wings of Fury
5.Double Dragon I
6.Kick Off II - Final Whistle
7.Sim City

oh the past... :computer:

2005-07-18, 11:30
Hey guys,

what's about Resident Evil 1?
The best shocker ever!

But there are also some good strategy games. Medieval Total War, Sudden Strike

and Commandos.

2005-07-18, 11:46
Doom, Ghost'n Goblin, Ghouls'n Ghost and, of course, HL2

2005-07-18, 14:56
Castlevania SOTN. One of the best games of all time

2005-07-19, 02:29
ok ok ok i hate to say this, but honestly. The best story line i have ever played that kept me hooked was halo. It was such a driving game and just when you thought you were gettiong some where they throw the flood at ya. The music was awsome, the cut scenes were fantastic, and come on the graphics.. blow everything away on all the other consoles. Yes I know i am sounding like an xbox fanboy. Honestly though, if you played this game, you have to say "yeah I have this memorable part when such and such comes at you, and i use this such and such weapon". A game that make's you remember what you used or what strategie you used to get through a certain part is an awsome game. We all have those moments on halo, atleast for those of us who played it.

2005-07-19, 04:00
Dead or alive 2 :D :D

2005-07-19, 04:28
The Resident Evil Series up to Outbreak and Outbreak 2(face it, those ones sucked monkey balls) cause it brought back the whole Zombie craze. Kings Feild 2 for PS1 for the gameplay and the challenge. Halo for the breakthrough's it caused in the gaming industry. The Gran Tourismo Series cause.... well it's Gran Tourismo damnit. But, the game that takes the cake, the only one i could play over and over and not get bored/tired of it is..... drum roll please... Metal Gear Solid for PS1. That game was the Halo of it's time. I never had Halo stolen from me, but I had MGS stolen 6 times if that says anything.

2005-07-19, 07:43
gta san andreas its so big u can play it for weeks n u still havent beaten it

2005-07-20, 10:23

I love Neverwinter Nights. The mods and all of the different ways to make characters. Its got enless replay value. If you don't like RPG's though, you wouldn't like it.

2005-07-27, 02:50
Mafia was the best Game i've ever played! Great Story and a lot of action.

I spent a SHITLOAD of yardwork money I had earned at the video arcade, as a kid. LOL :nanner: Better to do that than get into trouble, I suppose. :)

Now we're cooking!! Did the same thing at the arcades over here too - Space Invaders, Asteroids, Galaxian, Outrun, etc.

And we all bought one of these to play Donkey Kong:

Seems Nintendo has gone full circle:

2005-08-02, 10:51
For those wondering what TEMPEST was all about (as quoted by Nightfly):

2005-08-02, 11:15
Anyone also remember an arcade game called "Smash TV"?

Also another favourite (currently found at pubs and airports over here in the UK) - Golden Tee:

This golf game was pure fun to play - I wasted a lot of cash on this baby....until they started "improving" on the original and brought out harder versions (which cost more to play)

2005-08-06, 09:08
Does anybody know Thrill Kill (PS1)?? Only a joke.....pretty brutal but awful gameplay!

Resident Evil 1 (PS1) + 4 (GC)
Max Payne 2 (PC)
Splinter Cell 1-3 (XB)

2005-08-06, 16:43
too many categories...break it down.

Best FPS: hands down, UNREAL TOURNAMENT (old school 99)....shockwhoring & sniping.

Best RTS: STARCRAFT ...128 wraith rushes pwn all.

Best RPG: Star Wars KOTOR....force lightning pwns.

2005-08-06, 18:36

Yeah, Resident Evil 4 just blew me away the first time I played it.
I also remember spending hours playing 'Faxanadu' and 'Swords and Serpents' on my old nintendo system. These weren't the best games ever made, but for me they're at the top. To this day I have never spent so much time on a single game.

2005-08-08, 03:09
Nintendo - spy-vs-spy
Sega - Skitchen'
N64 - Perfect Dark

2005-08-25, 20:31
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Best RPG: Final Fantasy III/VI

2005-08-26, 13:29
this one is hard. i would have to say most gamers i know would say chrono trigger, or final fantasy. either 3 or 7. probaly 7. i personaly love the mario series. but also give credit to the games that started it all. i think one of em was pong. and stuff like asteroid and pac man. all classics. but i to also love the halo series even though the ending in halo 2 sucked. and unreal tournament(the original)

2005-08-26, 15:08
My all time favorite would be Castlevania Symphony of the Night on the PSX.

Nice posts Om3ga, at first I thought it was just gonna be computer games hince the title but they had all kinds of platforms. Im glad my number 1 game was in the top 10 which was goldeneye thats my all time favorite game

*edit* oh yeah how can Super Mario Brothers not be in the top 3? what was it like 12 geez, and they put super mario 64 at 2, mario 64 was great though, it was about as good as the orginal but with better graphics

2005-12-25, 23:33
Man, that list brings back memories. I'm only in the 100-90 range, too. "Hard Drivin? I remember that!"

As for me, there are a ton of games that I grew up loving. Defender, Phoenix and Galaga on the Atari 2600. Double Dragon (though I preferred #2), Spy vs Spy, Mario 3, Baseball Stars for the NES....the list would just go on and on...

2005-12-25, 23:50
I saw that track and field game but they forgot to mention how you could buy a big pad (like I did) put it on the floor and run on that. it had like 2 blue and 2 red dots and you would act like you are running and kinda run on those dots and you could race someone and jump hurdles and everything, it was so fun, havent played it in over a decade but its stuck in my mind like I played it recently. Some of these fatter kids nowadays need games like that. it would get them moving while they are playin

2005-12-26, 00:03
actually it had six spots in each color...but I had to look it up to be sure lol, check it out:

I dont know if this site is trying to sell off the stuff or not. I was just looking for a decent pic of the thing. lol.

This next site talks about some of the fun extras the came with the old NES, my personal favorite system ever...long live the gun!

2005-12-26, 00:27
Oh so I guess you played it 2 cool I should have known better because 4 dots wouldnt have taken up much room, I tried to buy a used nes from a used game place but it didnt work for some reason. lookin at that pic of the pad brings back memories, I actually think I still have my old power pad in my basement somewhere but its real junky so idk

2005-12-26, 10:06
Final Fantasy ^^

2005-12-26, 11:12
hmmm... hard one :), ill say DOOM :violent:

2005-12-26, 14:10
I'd say any older Ninja Turtles game.

2005-12-26, 15:15
I'd say any older Ninja Turtles game.

Good call. That original TMNT game for NES was rediculously hard. I dont remember getting far in that one at all, but it was fun even if it seemed impossible. lol. The sequel that was based on the awesome arcade game wasted many hours for me. lol.

2005-12-26, 15:18

I just remember being able to play them for hours on end. Especially the arcade machines that had 'em. I'm hoping that with my tax refund I can buy the arcade machine for my home.

2005-12-26, 15:55
Who here remembers Battletoads, that game was the shit

2005-12-26, 20:44
good question, for me it would have to be a title that started me on the gaming path which i still walk on...Manic Minor

2005-12-26, 21:09
For me - some good games that got overlooked:

1942 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1942_(video_game))
Dig Dug (http://www.classicgaming.com/rotw/digdug.shtml)
Elevator Action (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elevator_Action)

2005-12-27, 00:39

2005-12-27, 00:50

2005-12-27, 01:06
For Super Mario fans:

2005-12-27, 06:53
pes 5

2005-12-27, 23:32
Not my own favorite, but although most of us Americans would not believe it, Starcraft is probably still the strongest out there.

Oh, if you mean console games, I loved old school Zelda.

2006-01-04, 16:26
there a lot of games i like but after 15 years i still love tetris

easy idea

2006-01-05, 16:05
Street fighter alpha 2 Sega Saturn thats when the sf series hits peak.

2006-01-05, 16:16
For me it is Madden, Iám a great fan of American Footbal

2006-01-05, 23:45
i dont know if anyone ever played this game but its ICE HOCKEY for the NES..you could pick either fat skinny or regular sized guys to play as..simple game but i still play it today..

2006-01-06, 12:11
can't pick just one so

Mario Kart 64 (N64)
Mario World (N64)
Grand Theft Auto 3 (PS2)
WWE SmackDown! Here Comes The Pain (PS2)

2006-01-07, 22:57
Final Fantasy VII, no contest

2006-01-08, 15:57
Arcade: WWF Wrestlefest
Nintendo: SMB 3 (Didn't have many games)
SNES: Super Mario World (had to play the system at other people's house's)
Sega Genisis: Family Fued or Mortal Kombat
PS1: WCW vs. The World
64: WWF No Mercy
Nintendo Gamcube: WWE Day Of Reconing
I don't like PS2, because of the controls, and have never owned, or played an X-Box.

2006-01-08, 19:12
GTA Vice City

2006-01-08, 19:29
8 years on and still nothing seems likely to ever eclipse The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for me. I have my doubts whether there ever will be a better game.

2006-01-08, 19:33

Nice choice of wrestling games. To continue you for you in that section of the genre:

PS2, arguably Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain(they said that SvsR 2006 is better, but I own all the Smackdown games, and IMO HCTP is better)
X-box, none. I've played Raw, and Raw2 and the Wrestlemanias, IMO stick with Sony for your wrestling games.

2006-01-08, 19:42
Metal Gear Solid 1-3, and the upcoming MGS4. Hands down best ever. I obsess Metal Gear. I have at least 20 mags about MGS, the official soundtrack from Japan, and every Metal Gear ever made, even MSX version. I know I have too much time on my hands, but MGS is my passion.

2006-01-11, 04:20
Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy I - VIII, Resident Evil 1 - 4 and pretty much everything released by Nintendo the last 20 years!!

2006-01-12, 05:27
I would say Resident evil 4 would be my top game or resident evil 2

lots of people have really bad tastes in games here

Ptit Philou
2006-01-16, 05:36
Man difficult question.......but I would say Diablo 2 !
I have many video games in mind, but I've never spent so many hours in front of game than in front of Diablo 2 !

2006-01-20, 08:29
My favourite of the moment is Tony Hawk American Wasteland or Pro Evo 5.

However of all time it has to be Final Fantasy VII.

2006-01-20, 08:57
That's way to hard a question to answer! What system are we talking about? What genre? Still not to chicken out I'll go for:
C64 - Paradroid
Spectrum - Rana Rama
PS1 - Tomb Raider (The first and still the best, Angel of Darkness bites big time!), Final Fantasy 7-8-9
PS2 - Final Fantasy X & X-2, MSG3, GT4, San Andreas, Shadow Hearts Covenant, Tiger Woods 2004.
Hmm, maybe I spend too much time playing games?

2006-01-20, 13:58
the best videogame was resident evil 1 ...

2006-01-20, 14:07
Games that I saw really obsessed about, and were an exceptional gaming experience to me:

Monkey Island 1
Metal Gear Solid
Vampire the Masquerade:Redemption
Blackstone Chronicles
Shadow of the Comet
The Longest Journey
Final Fantasy VIII
Alone In the Dark
Baldur's Gate: Shadows of Amn
Prince of Persia (yes, the very first one!)

2006-02-25, 19:51
Techno bowl = $$$$$

2006-12-13, 19:08
This question is almost as hard as "Who is your favorite pornstar"? You can name just one. So here is a small list:

-Medieval II:Total War (PC) and Rome
-Metal Gear Solid 3:(MGS4 will top this when it comes out)
-The Street Fighter Series (especailly SF Alpha 3)-Fei-Long rulez!!
-The Grand Theft Auto series (I really liked Tommy from Vice City)

2006-12-13, 19:12
this is the easiest question. the answer is tecmo super bowl. when i get 700 yards with bo jackson or barry sanders, i have a lot of fun.:D

i can even cheat in the game. i can set it so i wont give up a single yard!

best game ever= tecmo super bowl on NES

2006-12-13, 19:30

It was a great game , I played it so much and I still do sometimes . It was the best football franchise before madden came along and even after that it still was better than Madden . Too bad it stoped after the first playstation game .

I'd say RE4 I thought it was pretty much perfect, I give it the edge, just over Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.

2007-07-04, 17:27

- Planetside: online FPS, 400 people shooting and driving tanks and flying jets and ... complaining about lag. but it was fantastic!

- Civilisation: time-waster par excellence.

- Battlefield 2: the best game in the series, kinda like a small-scale planetside with better graphics.

- System Shock 2: the only game that ever scared me to the point of actually screaming at my computer. resident evil is for sissies compared to this. too bad there's no sequel...

- Grand Prix Legends: an old game, but still the best simulation of early formula 1 cars ever, and one of th emost realistic sims ever.

- Gran Turismo: not a sim as sony claims, but still a bloody good time.

- Metal Gear Solid: made you feel like an action hero.

- Super mario Bros: i could finish it without losing a life :)

- Street Fighter 2: blisters on my thumbs, and not from jacking off :)

many many more that i don't remmber right now, and of course a few arcade classics like rush 2049 (i had all 5 lap records and all 5 race records at my local arcarde), hydro thunder, daytona USA, ferrari F355 challenge, soul calibur, tekken tag team, virtua tennis, virtua soccer... the list never ends.

Well, here is as good a place as any for my first proper post I suppose. :)

Best game ever? It's a tough one. The most recent game(s) that blew me away were Half Life: Orange Box. I've been out of work recently waiting to start my new contract so I played through HL2, HL2E1 and E2 back to back over a week or so....wow, I was just blown away. It's such an immersive collection of games, really gripping.

The thing I like is just how you get attached to characters and everything and how the game is perfectly paced. And the simple puzzles! The people that make them are really clever and innovative I think.

So that is my best game ever at the moment, but to be honest it changes all the time. If I am in a retro mood I'd probably say Sonic The Hedgehog 2 or Metal Gear Solid. And I like a good racing game too.

I'd give a shout out to GTA: San Andreas too. I whiled away many hours on that just chilling out with a motorcycle, the radio cranked up and cruising round the countryside. The freedom was great, I hope the new GTA is the same kind of scale. :)

the strip poker of uplay-istrip.com
i love strip poker video games, used to play the one i found on super-poker.com but the uplay-istrip one is the best ever, and i can play with Sandra Kalermen and it makes me very happy...

2008-03-07, 19:25
Can anyone really pick one game? I'll throw out a couple that come to mind...

Half-Life 2--no intro needed

Final Fantasy VII(PS)--Epic game. This game made me sell my N64 just so I could buy a playstation in order to play it. There's a reason it's had so many spinoffs.

Final Fantasy X(PS2)-- Bigger production values than VII, but it actually had a smaller overall world and cast of characters. A simple (annoying?) character in Tidus grows during the course of the game, and the ending took guts.

Gabriel Knight II (PC)-- one of the last (best) games to actually use real actors, but actually do it well. Just a really good story.

Grand Theft Auto III(PS2)--San Andreas is a better game, but this is the game that changed it all.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic--Probably the best use of the Star Wars license...ever.

2008-03-08, 02:32
Assassins Creed, I love its unique game play

2008-03-10, 09:38
shenmue 1 and 2

2008-03-10, 09:41
Final Fantasy VII(PSX) and Metal Gear Solid(PSX) are the best gamer ever, although Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid Snake qualifies too.

2008-04-08, 20:06
Shaq-Fu... jk
Super Mario World

2008-04-09, 09:56
:bowdown:LOZelda 1
(doing 1st and 2nd quest, back to back, [w/ maps] and trying to beat a 24 hr deadline.. ahh:o back in the day..)

super mario 64
(mario in 3d form, doing it BIG [W/O] the aid of a goofy lookin' water cannon..

and any other Zelda, NOT including LOZ2, Majora Mask, and Windwaker (which TRUE LOZ-heads refer to as bastard child blasphemies)

as a gamer, i stay retro-gaming to the death :angels:

2008-04-11, 12:02

Only 5 more days! I really hope its as fun as I am expecting .. my insides are squirming at the excitement. I also hope its one of those games that are always covered in wrapping paper.. always wondering what you will open next :1orglaugh
