Causing it to grown expontentally, but was it possible to hold onto? Dubai is running out of oil fast and in many areas is already out of oil.

Dubai no more? I always loved looking at the technology and buildings they had.

I saw this on another site. It is amazing that a place that seemed to have as much going for it as they did just went broke. Some people are even saying this might have a big effect on the global economy.

There is the old saying about building things on sand. Dubai went against that wisdom both metaphorically and literally.

That's actually what crossed my mind when I heard about the debt crisis in Dubai. I didn't realize you were also an F1 fan.

To be honest, I could live without Dubai (though it wasn't horrible). But the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi has to be one of the most amazing pieces of racing architecture I've ever seen... on TV, I mean - I'd LOVE to go there.

i've seen a little of dubai once, it's a like a rich people's Wet Dream. i don't mind them having problems, because they are the ones who are raising the oil prices every time.

Since this is happening everywhere (although the effects are not as extreme as in Dubai, nor the amount of money involved) and since I believe that the rest of the world will recover in the forseeable future, I believe this is only a temporary setback for Dubai.

I got into F1 after moving to Europe. It's so much more interesting than Nascar. Aside from the lack of constant circles they're man enough to race when it's wet.

I'd personally love to go to any of the races...we looked into tickets for Spa last year but I'm not paying that much for nose bleed seats...I can take that and go race A1 cars in Belgium instead.

I don't think that they will run out of oil in a flash. Their oil reserves will gradually decrease over decades probably until they finally dry up.

It's more probable that their growth rate and investing is hindered by a sharp plunge in the oil prices we've seen during this crisis.

However, no one should ever forget a saying that has supposedly also come from the Middle East: "This too shall pass". The saying is true for both bad times as well as good times.

Dubai doesn't have any oil, it never has. They've built everything on finance from Abu Dhabi who does have oil! Dubai's develpment relied on creating a whole economy based primarily on developing tourism. Abu Dhabi feel a bit miffed that Dubai's getting all the credit, and they want to teach them a lesson, they'll bail out Dubai when they feel you've shown them whose boss!
