If I was a zillionaire I would since our health care system only caters to the rich or the elite few who are privelaged to have taxpayer funded socialized health care

Re: Insurance Runs Out For 12-Year-Old Boy Without Arm

wake up, do you know how many, what percentage of the population deemed as poor get free medical and pay 0% tax? hell they even get a check in the mail for a few grand each year.
maybe cut their benefits a little and they will have more responsibilty and then people like this kid could get his prosthetic.
All you need is a kid or 6.
fuck even illegal aliens get free health care.
maybe cut their benefits a little and they will be forced to have more responsibilty and then people like this kid could get his prosthetic.
GOV cant pay for everything that is socialism and that doesn't work, especially in the USA where so many refuse to contribute.
in sweden its great, in the USA its a recipe for disaster
it will make the economy crash worse than 1929,

hellraiser not an insult but i think you need to get out , get a job, see how much of your money is stolen each week by big gov , look around, observe society meanwhile staying away from all forms of media.
look at this situation like this: maybe if government didnt take 40-60 percent of this kids parents money in various taxes they would have the money to buy his prosthetic.
its got nothing to do with who you call neocons.

do you realize you even get taxed when you take a shit in your toilet?

^ or maybe this could should petition the government to lower the recruitment age to 12 years old and let people with one arm join so he can be old enough to join the military and qualify to get socialized healthcare payed for by taxpayers.

Re: Insurance Runs Out For 12-Year-Old Boy Without Arm

Hellraiser, you should recognize that all medals have two sides. I come from a country where about 15% of a person's earnings are taken away from him and used to pay a mandatory, state-controlled health care insurance system. And our health care system mostly sucks. I went to my doctor's office last monday and had to wait for two hours to see the doctor for five minutes and only ask for an advice.

Last year I wanted to remove something like a mole that was forming on my ear and the state-funded doctor said I would have to wait for 3 months on my turn. So in the end I went to a non-state funded doctor (the one you pay by yourself ) and got everything done in 15 minutes.

But that is nothing, if you need some treatment or examination which requires the use of some more sophisticated and expensive equipment, you will most likely have to wait for several months to a whole year or more to get it done. People sometimes die waiting.

so what if you waited 2 hours, it's not like if you were going to die while waiting...

It must be nice to have the option of going to a state doctor or afford to see private doctor such as you do

Yeah but you still pay for the state doctor even if you do not use him. Nobody asks you if you want to pay the money for your state doctor, as soon as you have a job you MUST pay him. And the price - 15% of one's earnings - is not negligible.

Mr P I did tax preparation for a non profit group in NJ last year and am getting ready now (lot of IRS on line stuff and tests required) to do it again for the coming season. This family would not only not pay a dime in federal taxes but would get a very nice refund (several thousand bucks) due to credits like the earned income tax credit and child tax credit.Shit he's trying to support a family of 6 on a little over $40,000 a year, but he's not poor, the hell he isn't.Now he is suppose to come up wuth $30,000 every couple years on his own for his kids arm?

If I had my higher incomes would talk about the good old days of paying below 40% tax rates.People in income ranges of $250,000 a year would see their tax rates start up and the more you made the more sharp the rate increase would be to a top rate of about 70% on million a year and above income earners. The US used to have much higher rates then that (before Reagan) and the country and economy were much better.

If you know anybody in Jersey who wants their taxes done for free were in Newark. They just can't make over $50,000 single or combined husband and wife to be eligible for the free service.Tell them just to google free "Vita" tax center in Newark NJ

You guys on the right would have cardiacs if you saw the refunds I help people get.

H&R Block ain't thrilled with it eitheir.

And insurance companies suck.Something will be done about them ,just how soon that is the only question.

Re: Insurance Runs Out For 12-Year-Old Boy Without Arm

Nice examples capicorn, i didnt know that.
Friday, Ok so your saying a guy with 6 kids who earns 40,000 gets a complete refund plus several thousand extra pocket money?
meanwhile a person earning the same with no kids pays how much? 5,000 fed, 700 state, 4,000 ss, + + + plus.
nobody see's the unfairness of that?
yeah i know this, seen it 1,000 times there, but mostly with people who earned much little because they hardly worked at all.
you say You guys on the right would have cardiacs if you saw the refunds I help people get.
I dont see how anybody who works and pays the full amount doesn't feel cheated and angry.

They say a few bad apples spoiles the bushel, i believe so, especially when theres more than a few.
In NJ like I said seen it a thousand times., they get their TAX CREDIT (Obamas big on tax credits) of 2 -5 grand and piss it away on pot, booze, video games and clothes ect, nothing for the children

nice post thanks.

I found this recently for a discussion on another board. It's about Sweden:

Because the Rehn-Meidner model allowed capitalists owning very productive and efficient firms to retain excess profits at the expense of the firms’ workers, thus exacerbating inequality, workers in these firms began to agitate for a share of the profits in the 1970s, just as women working in the state sector began to assert pressure for better wages. Meidner established a study committee that came up with a 1976 proposal that entailed transferring the excess profits into investment funds controlled by the workers in the efficient firms, with the intention that firms would create further employment and pay more workers higher wages, rather than increasing the wealth of company owners and managers.
(...)
The 1980s were a very turbulent time in Sweden that initiated the occasional decline of Social Democratic Party rule. In the 1980s, pillars of Swedish industry were massively restructured. Shipbuilding was discontinued, wood pulp was integrated into modernized paper production, the steel industry was concentrated and specialized, and mechanical engineering was digitalized.[35] In 1986, one of the Social Democratic Party's strongest champions of egalitarianism and democracy, Olof Palme was assassinated. Swedish capital was increasingly moving Swedish investment into other European countries as the European Union coalesced, and a hegemonic consensus was forming among the elite financial community: progressive taxation and pro-egalitarian redistribution became economic heresy.[36] A leading proponent of capital's cause at the time, Social Democrat Finance Minister Kjell-Olof Feldt reminisced in an interview, "The negative inheritance I received from my predecessor Gunnar Sträng (Minister of Finance 1955 - 1976) was a strongly progressive tax system with high marginal taxes. This was supposed to bring about a just and equal society. But I eventually came to the opinion that it simply didn't work out that way. Progressive taxes created instead a society of wranglers, cheaters, peculiar manipulations, false ambitions and new injustices. It took me at least a decade to get a part of the party to see this."[37] With the capitalist confederation's defection from the 1938 Saltsjöbaden Agreement and Swedish capital investing in other European countries rather than Sweden, as well as the global rise of neoliberal political-economic hegemony, the Social Democratic Party backed away from the progressive Meidner reform.

meanwhile a person earning the same with no kids pays how much? 5,000 fed, 700 state, 4,000 ss, + + + plus.
nobody see's the unfairness of that?
yeah i know this, seen it 1,000 times there, but mostly with people who earned much little because they hardly worked at all.
you say You guys on the right would have cardiacs if you saw the refunds I help people get.
I dont see how anybody who works and pays the full amount doesn't feel cheated.
nice post thanks.
He has 4 kids. With him and the wife it's a family of 6.Yeah he would get any taxes they had withheld refunded plus more with the 4 kids as dependants.A single person making 40K would pay about $4000 in fed taxes, maybe a little more but not much. All of this of course does not include things like Fica (social security) taxes which are not refundable.Thats another area the well off get over on the rest of us.That tax stops at something like $110,000 a year, anything over that is exempt from the tax. Why? Because the rich want it that way!!!!!

All of that is still a hell of a lot better treatment than I would get. Or if I did get it, it would probably bankrupt me and ruin most of the rest of my life financially.

You're basically saying it's alright to sacrifice some people for the gain of others instead of helping everybody as much as reasonably possible.

reasonably possible?
what is that?
what % of peoples income needs to be sacrificed to help everybody as much as reasonably possible?
working people already sacrifice 15% of the money they earn and the system appears to be basically ineffective.
apparently they are being sacrificed, because theyre paying for something that is almost useless.
example if youve got cancer you cant wait months or a year just for an exam, that is a death sentence.
so why not force them to sacrifice 30%, fuck it 50% if it will make the system work.
and thats in little ol croatia.
let that system come to the usa where so many dont and never have contributed financially and you'll see a real disaster. I dont have the answer but i know that aint it.

ok fri, you say the rich get over on us, maybe.
I say its the clowns who had a bunch of kids they can't afford to raise and not only don't pay fed or state tax but get an extra 2-5 thousand dollar gift each year for doing it.
how many millions of people do that each year?
Ok, let them pay no tax which is unfair enough considering it wasnt the actual taxpayers who blew their load in the wife or gf.
but giving them a gift of thousands each year? why not just lower the tax rate for all and let those who earned it keep it instead of punishing them for not having kids they couldnt afford.?

check out this pov.
if the tax rate was the same for everyone say 10%, then a person earning 1,000,000 per year would pay 100,000.
a person earning 20,000 would pay 2,000.
So arent the so called rich already contributing much much more?
iinstead the richer are paying a higher rate, therefore paying much much much more.
So wheres all the disdain for these people coming from? theyre already contributing alotttt.
they say in nyc the top 5% earners pay like 85% of the taxes that keep the city running, but no parade for them from the people who pay nothing yet reap the benefits, instead hatred.
And the solution, take more, which is why so many top earners are leaving new york and the system is on the edge of collapse.
I dont know.

Benjamin French was born with his right arm missing below the elbow. In his 12 years, he has been fitted with seven prostheses. His most recent replacement will cost nearly $30,000 and his doctor says he will soon grow out of it.

But, according to his insurance company, the boy is ineligible for further coverage of prosthetic devices because he has already spent his lifetime maximum benefit.
...end of story. I don't see why this is even news. People get denied further coverage via medical insurance all the time. Insurance companies haven't and won't ever agree to supply any of their clients with an endless supply of financial assistance. When you buy medical insurance (or insurance of any kind), you sign a contract which clearly stats every single little detail about your individual plan, including a clearly stated limit of financial assistance that you can be eligible to receive. This kid reached his limit and is no longer receiving financial benefits from his insurance company. Like I said, end of story.
