    Nothing wrong with the 50's.

Nothing wrong except that they're gone and you gotta live in the present era, particulary when you have huge power, like the Attorney General has.

Anyway, why am I not suprised that you find nothing wrong with the pre-Civil Rights era ?

I've seen Back to the Future - the 1950's didn't seem so bad. Bullying in school was maybe an issue as well as under-aged drinking and peeping toms and single TV households.

From the jack off that lives in a country with barely 1.5 million black people living in it

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blacks_in_France

How many black people lived in France in the 1950's?

    25,000 at the most?

I've never fully understood the great sentiment for the 50s. I mean yeah ok we were feeling our oats after helping save the planet the decade before. Our economy was strong. But as you note institutionalized discrimination was still alive and well, and we were bogged down fighting a war in Korea that would bring our unbeaten record to an end.
The air quality in most big cities was so bad it's hard to imagine at this late date. Think of present day China.
Also the cold war was on, with kids in school starting to practice drills that would save them (not) in case of a nuke attack.

To conservatives, 1950' discrimination was a good thing and a part of what's make the 50' so good.
The Korean war ? You're speaking to people that are too old to risk being sent there so to them, was is a ggod thing. The only thing that would bother them is that, in the 50' CNN was not covering war as they do know.

You only have 1.5 -5 million now. In a country in a population of 66 million
So no, in the 1950's you didn't have "millions".

Yes we had, millions of blacks on the colonies, which were considered to be french territory.

Hey idiot! You are constantly revising U.S. history.

Colonies do not constitute mainland France nor are the problems with language, culture and assimilation a significant problem that affects the mainland.

Have you ever heard the term "Too black to be French"?

Because that is how many of your countrymen view the black French.

It is also well documented that France has their own fair share of racial problems that have yet to be dealt with.

So go fuck yourself telling the USA about their racial inequalities when blacks make up over 14 percent of our population and they barely crack 4 percent of yours.

At least we have tried to deal with our issues. And BTW, France will never have a black president.

The one who is arrogant and a fool, it is you especially for having voted Obama Notrauma twice. Has Obama made your life better since ? Highly unlikely.

As a good socialist that you are, you must perhaps hate De Gaulle. The socialists are responsible of France 's decline on all counts, they are the ones who always seem to prefer foreigners to their own citizens and they are the biggest unpatriotic douchebags, that is an indeniable fact.

It is always a great start for any argument to start it with a compklete generalization. Again, you show a brillant lack of judgement.

Less than 90 U.S. citizens killed as a result of terrorist attacks on US soil over the course of 8 years.
Dozens of terrorist organization leaders killed, including Bin Laden.
Tens of thousands of radical muslim fighters killed over the course of 8 years, in various ME locales.
Old allies (France, Germany) returned to the fold after rejecting Bush's invasion of Iraq.
We are no longer occupiers of two large nations at great expense, both fiscally and in terms of casualties.
For the first time since 1985 I didn't have to pay out of pocket for a pre-existing medical condition. If I weren't a successful businessman that lack of coverage would have broken me years ago.
So yeah, for me life got better under Obama.

Did you include Ft. Hood in that terror number?
After 9/11 how many died on U.S. soil in terror attacks under Bush?

Are any of your tenants section 8 ?
You mentioned terror leaders killed or captured. I couldn't help but notice that 5 Al Quaeda generals being released foolishly didn't make the cut.

No one brought the world community together and built coalitions better than GHWB. .yet I am sure you were one of those that felt it necessary to throw him out in favor of Bill Clinton.

A lot of people's portfolios improved during the past 8 years after the initial hit after the financial crisis. Mine regained losses around 2013 but doubled from pre-loss numbers of 2008 ?
    *Cough*

Not paying out of pocket for pre-existing conditions is very fortunate for you.
I am fortunate that I haven't suffered any major illness in my life.
At my age my yearly premiums have risen from $3800 dollars a year to $9000 a year with a $7000 deductible.
You don't seem to be concerned for how your grandchildren will fare however. The national debt went from 11 trillion to 19 in 8 years.

    As someone famously said..

    No.

Foolishly in your opinion. No certain evidence Bergdhal was a deserter at the time. Matter of fact -though it seems likely he will be - he still hasn't been convicted. We don't leave ours behind. We get them back if possible. Then if there's disciplinary action to be taken afterwards we do so.
Wondering how many terrorist leaders were among the more than 500 prisoners Bush released from Guantanamo... quite certain there were at least a few...

No one brought the world community together and built coalitions better than GHWB. .yet I am sure you were one of those that felt it necessary to throw him out in favor of Bill Clinton.

I voted for Clinton yes, but not because I disliked or hated Bush. And I'd have been anything but heartbroken had Bush won.

A lot of people's portfolios improved during the past 8 years after the initial hit after the financial crisis. Mine regained losses around 2013 but doubled from pre-loss numbers of 2008 ?

I wasn't all that much in the market until it started back up from the bottom.
All the frantic, irrational Obama's-going-to-destroy-capitalism paranoia got me interested in jumping in more heavily.

Not paying out of pocket for pre-existing conditions is very fortunate for you. I am fortunate that I haven't suffered any major illness in my life.

Mine costs me roughly 60K a year (or it's equivalent, going back through the course of 32 years). As I mentioned, more than enough to break most people. That just ain't right.

At my age my yearly premiums have risen from $3800 dollars a year to $9000 a year with a $7000 deductible.

My annual is higher than yours (though they haven't risen at the rate yours have), but then I'm older than you and chose to purchase a cadillac plan.

You don't seem to be concerned for how your grandchildren will fare however. The national debt went from 11 trillion to 19 in 8 years.

Sure that's a concern. Percentage wise I seem to recall it rose even more during Reagan's eight years. Where was all the outrage then?

Did you include Ft. Hood in that terror number?

No. If you'd prefer to that would add another 13.

After 9/11 how many died on U.S. soil in terror attacks under Bush?

Few if any. And good on him for that. Still, 9/11 happened - are we supposed to give him a mulligan on that?

But mostly I'm not looking to make an Obama/Bush comparison here. Mostly I'm thinking that some of the finest minds on your side - and some of the most influential when it comes to creating public perception - Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Levin and all the other usual suspects - assured us that electing Obama, with his "muslim roots" and his laissez faire or even sympathetic attitude towards terrorists, was going to bring forth a literal Armageddon of carnage and death on U.S. soil. I heard this hysteria touted almost daily via AM radio, and was warned about it routinely in viral emails from conservative friends... FOR YEARS. I'm sure you did too. Even in the last month of his presidency I was still hearing that same crap.

These mother fuckers that millions of right wingers consider 'gurus' are in fact little more than dividers for pay. God and country are not their first priorities - pot stirring for profit is.
And they ALL ended up being flat out WRONG about that (among other things). Wrong enough that they should have suffered irreparable damage to their credibility. Wrong enough to cop to being so if they had any integrity. But no, instead they just fattened their wallets and will move on to the next way they can personally profit from tearing americans further apart. Fuck 'em all. To me they are the very antithesis of patriots.

Pro-tip: Anyone saying "Obama Notrauma" can be immediately identified not only as a fool, but as a full-out fucking moron. Like, the kind of fucking moron that isn't just born slightly dumb, but has spent a life time splooging his willful ignorance all over himself and bathing in it on a daily basis.

Please change something so I can put you on my ignore list.

Emphasis on "should have suffered irreparable damage to their credibility" - but dangerously, we live in a time where facts and reality are effortlessly discarded. They can falsely claim Obama destroyed the country and simply tell their followers it actually happened, and no, don't believe what you hear elsewhere, because all views to the contrary are "fake news". It's the perfect indoctrination.
"We must surrender our skepticism only in the face of rock-solid evidence. Science demands a tolerance for ambiguity. Where we are ignorant, we withhold belief. Whatever annoyance the uncertainty engenders serves a higher purpose: It drives us to accumulate better data. This attitude is the difference between science and so much else. Science offers little in the way of cheap thrills. The standards of evidence are strict. But when followed they allow us to see far..." - Carl Sagan
