You can't erase your red dot yourself. The dot represents a numeric value of the rep points others have given you. If you click on {Profile} you'll see a box titled {Last Reputation Received}. At the top right of that box you'll see how many {Rep Points} others have given or taken from you. In the box, you'll see the post where you were given the points and the person who gave them. It may include a comment.
People give rep points if you make a good post, usually by helping them out in some way. Providing an id, posting a nice link, or saying something profound are examples of good posts.
Unfortunately for you, you must have made some poor post so people have given you negative rep (taken points away). The dot is red because you are below zero points. It'll change back to white when you get to zero points again. and then you get a green dot for every 100 points you receive.
Bad posts are in general (my opinion) posts that have no added value to the thread. Spamming, flaming, trolling and all the other negative internet terms would fall into this category. A less recognizable one is for example, where someone posts a link asking for an id of a girl. Then you reply to that post and in your reply, you say stuff like "that slut looks fine and I wouldn't mind having sex with her". Then you talk about all the nasty things you would do to her. Well to the original poster, what you just said may be very annoying and it didn't provide any help to him for id'ing the girl so it was nothing but useless comments.
There are many other examples, but i would suggest you look up the words spamming, trolling, etc to find their meanings. It will help you out in the future.

Also the_the_real, I noticed that you are using this smiley ---> :thefinger in some of your posts.
This smiley has been confused by newbies before. It is not a "thumbs-up", it means "fuck you". This is the "thumbs-up" smiley--->
Your smiley confusion as well as your broken english might account for some of the misinterpretation by other members who may have given you bad rep as a result.
I haven't noticed any insults from you so I think this might explain your little red gem.
BTW, excellent explanation Aces&Jacks :hatsoff:
