I get what you're saying, but let's be fair and realistic for a second. She's now over 50 (sources say 51-54), and while she's dressed very plainly, she still looks to be in good shape. As for the rest, she's demphasized her hair, and seems to be without makeup. Look up almost any mainstream actress' candid shots caught the same way, and you'd barely recognize some of them either.

It is her-- I saw some behind-the-scenes pics she posted on her old website around 2002 and she looked sort of like that, maybe a few pounds less.

Overall, I wouldn't say she "let herself go"... she's simply out of "character", and doesn't look like you expect. I do think that if she chose to make any kind of comeback, even a short one, she could pull it off.
